ENAMELLED COPPER WIRE & ENAMELED ALUMINIUM WIRE is a fundamental part of a winding in every electrical machine or apparatus. Compared to fibrous insulations, enamelled copper & aluminium wire offers a favourable space saving factor together with a high level of breakdown voltage. The main application of Enamelled Copper Wire & Enamelled Aluminium wire is in winding of Motor and Transformers.

 

Enamelled Aluminium Wire or Enameled Copper Wire is a wire coated with a thin layer of enamel (varnish) insulation to prevent the wire surfaces from being in a short circuit when wound into coils. Magnetic flux is created when current flows through the coil. Aluminum Enameled Wire and Copper Enamelled Winding Wire are used mainly in the construction of motors, electromagnets, transformers and inductors. For ease of manufacturing inductive components like transformers and inductors, most of these wires can be soldered.

 

Enameled Aluminum Wire or Enamelled copper wire, also called "Magnet Wire," is widely used in various Electrical Applications due to its superior Electrical, Thermal and Mechanical Properties. Enameled Aluminium Wire /Enameled Copper Wire are insulated by coating it with enamel of different temperature class. Enamelled Aluminum Wire /Enamelled Copper Wire are primarily used in three types of applications - in transformers to transform one kind of electrical energy into other kinds. 4) ENAMELLED RECTANGULAR /FLAT COPPER & ALUMINIUM WIRE

Enameled Rectangular Aluminum Magnet Wire and Enamelled Rectangular Copper Magnet wire are used as the wire in electromagnets that use electricity to generate a magnetic field. Enameled Rectangular or Flat Aluminium Wire and Enameled Rectangular or Flat Copper Wire /Strip is wrapped in a tight coil. When an electric charge is applied, the wires generate the magnetic field. Flat Enamelled Aluminium Wire and Flat Enamelled copper wire have a wide variety of applications, including use in automobiles, motors, transformers and industrial machineries. Round Enameled Aluminium Wire and Round Enameled copper wire are also found in smaller devices and home appliances, such as computers, televisions etc.

 

Breakdown voltage of Aluminium Enamelled Winding Wire or Copper Enamelled Winding Wire depends on the thickness of the covering, which can be of 3 types: Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3. Higher grades have thicker insulation and thus higher breakdown voltages.

 

The temperature class indicates the temperature of the wire where it has a 20,000 hour service life. At lower temperatures the service life of the wire is longer (about a factor 2 for every 10 °C lower temperature). Common temperature classes are 105° C, 130° C, 155° C, 180° C and 220° C

 

Modern Flat Enamelled Aluminium Magnet Wire or Flat Enameled Copper Magnet Wire typically uses one to three layers of polymer film insulation, often of two different compositions, to provide a tough, continuous insulating layer. Magnet wire insulating films use (in order of increasing temperature range) polyvinyl formal or Formvar (PVF), polyurethane, polyamide (PUW), polyester (PEW), polyester-polyimide (EIW), polyamide-polyimide (or amide-imide) (AI-EIW), and polyimide (AIW). Polyimide insulated magnet wire is capable of operation at up to 250°C. The insulation of thicker square or enamelled rectangular aluminium or copper magnet wire is often augmented by wrapping it with a high-temperature polyimide or fiberglass tape, and completed windings are often vacuum impregnated with an insulating varnish to improve insulation strength and long-term reliability of the winding.

5)FIBREGLASS /DAGLASS COVERED ROUND & FLAT COPPER & ALUMINIUM WIRE


The Glass in FIBRE GLASS /DAGLAS COVERED /INSULATED ROUND & RECTANGULAR /FLAT COPPER & ALUMINIUM WIRE may be applied in woven tape form or as a continuous fibre. It has proved to be an efficient insulation providing coil winders with higher thermal stability, adequate electrical properties and good resistance to abrasion after varnishing. The glass is bonded with a varnish for dielectric strength to improve mechanical properties.

FibreGlass /Daglass lapped conductors (bare or enamelled) are very suitable for windings of electric motor stators, generators, special transformers and high  voltage motors. In general this insulation  can be applied where high mechanical strength and high insulation properties are required. It exhibits a very high degree of mechanical  and  thermal  stability.

Nomex covering corresponds to class H insulation is mainly used in the construction of condensers and capacitors. Main application of it is in shielding of cables in high temp. environments (200°C) such as dry type transformers, military and aerospace cables. 8) KAPTON COVERED ROUND & RECTANGULAR /FLAT COPPER WIRE


Kapton® in KAPTON COVERED ROUND & RECTANGULAR /FLAT COPPER WIRE is the condensation product of an aromatic tetra basic acid and an aromatic diamine. It has no melting point, is infusible and self-extinguishing (does not support combustion).

Kapton® (Brand Name of DuPont’s Polymide Film)  Covered  Wires  offers a  wide range of  applications  in the construction of motors (specially  in  traction motors), aerospace equipments. It provides insulation with high electrical, thermal and mechanical properties over a temperature range of -196°C to +250°C. It provides higher Break Down Voltage (more than 8 KV BDV) as well as Temperature Class (220 °C) as compare with other insulated conductors. Insulating materials in traction motors have to withstand high temperatures and frequent changes of load and temperature. Standard materials applied for conductor insulation in Traction Motor application is polyimide film. It has excellent chemical resistance; there are no known organic solvents for the film. Kapton does not melt or burn as it has the highest flammability rating. The outstanding properties of Kapton permit it to be used at both high and low temperature extremes where other organic polymeric materials would not be functional. Kapton gives conductors space saving, which ultimately yields more power without increasing motor size. Kapton provides exceptional overload protection and long motor life, even in the most demanding applications and environments.

9) MICA COVER ROUND & RECTANGULAR /FLAT COPPER & ALUMINIUM WIRE


Mica paper in MICA COVER ROUND & RECTANGULAR /FLAT COPPER & ALUMINIUM WIRE consists of  tiny platelets of mica that are made into a paper. This paper is extremely fragile and requires a carrier to render it usable, hence the polyester film. With respect to corona & thermal resistance requirements, Mica has shown itself to be the most suitable insulating material.

Its application is mainly in high voltage rotating machines due to its superior resistance to corona and it is therefore obvious to use it also as conductor insulation in inverter driven motors.
